14 nights · Bangkok · Koh Lanta · Phuket · Kamala
Three nights in the electric heart of Southeast Asia. Rooftop bars at sunset, golden temples rising above ancient canals, and the exhilarating joy of navigating Bangkok by tuk-tuk.
Touching down in Bangkok is like plugging into the world's most vibrant socket. The heat hits you first, then the noise, then the irresistible smell of street food drifting through every alley. Sukhumvit was the perfect launchpad — walkable, buzzing, and perfectly placed for everything we wanted to see.

The giant golden Buddha · Wat Pak Nam, spotted from the canal
We started the day the only proper Bangkok way — crammed into a tuk-tuk, weaving through traffic with the wind in our faces. The Tuk Tuk Day Tour took us to Wat Phra Kaew (the Temple of the Emerald Buddha), one of Thailand's most sacred and visually dazzling sites. The intricate golden spires and vivid mosaics are unlike anything you'll find anywhere else on earth.
Then came the canals. Gliding by long-tail boat through Bangkok's khlongs feels like stepping back in time — past wooden houses on stilts, children waving from doorways, and the sudden breathtaking appearance of Wat Pak Nam, its enormous golden Buddha visible from the water like a gleaming vision above the rooftops.
Always agree on a price before you get in, and enjoy every second of the organised chaos. The driver probably knows a shortcut you'd never find on Google Maps.
As the sky turned amber, we headed skyward. The Aire Rooftop Bar had us completely spellbound — the Bangkok skyline stretched endlessly in every direction, the city's glass towers catching the last of the golden light. We took full advantage of the 90-minute free flow promotion at just 799 THB per person. Exceptional value for one of Bangkok's most stunning views.

Four nights on one of Thailand's most beautiful and unspoilt islands. Pristine beaches, legendary sunsets, and a resort that went above and beyond — especially for coeliac travellers.
Set between a lush hillside and a white sand beach, Pimalai Resort & Spa is the kind of place that makes you want to cancel your return flight. The grounds are immaculate, the pool is an oasis of calm, and the beach — with its catamaran bobbing gently in the turquoise shallows — is postcard-perfect.

The beautiful pool at Pimalai Resort
As someone who is coeliac, travelling can sometimes feel like a constant negotiation with menus. Not at Pimalai. The team went above and beyond, offering a genuinely impressive range of gluten free options across every meal. Thai cuisine lends itself beautifully to GF eating — and here, the kitchen understood that completely.
Pimalai Resort & Spa is highly recommended for coeliac travellers. Inform the hotel at booking and you'll be well looked after. Many Thai dishes are naturally gluten free — just watch for soy sauce, which often contains wheat.
Koh Lanta rewarded every moment of exploration. We started mornings with paddle boarding along the shoreline — gliding across flat glassy water with the jungle-clad hills as backdrop. Evenings were for sunsets, which on this island are nothing short of spectacular. We also made it to the legendary Why Not Bar for their famous light show — a must for any Koh Lanta evening.
Four nights in Patong — beach days, neon nights on Bangla Road, and a day trip to one of Thailand's most iconic natural wonders.

Welcome to Bangla Road · Patong Beach, Phuket · Phuket's legendary nightlife street
By day, Patong Beach is a long stretch of golden sand framed by green hills — the kind of beach where you genuinely lose track of time. The water is warm, the atmosphere buzzy and sociable. We spent lazy afternoons under palm trees watching the sun arc across the bay.
Then the sun goes down and Patong transforms. Bangla Road is an assault on the senses in the best possible way — neon everywhere, music spilling from every doorway, and that iconic illuminated arch welcoming you into one of Asia's most legendary nightlife streets.
The James Bond Island Tour was an absolute highlight. Phang Nga Bay is jaw-dropping — towering limestone karsts erupting from jade-green water, the famous Khao Phing Kan island made iconic by The Man with the Golden Gun, and sea caves to paddle through by kayak. The scenery is genuinely unlike anything else in Thailand.
Three final nights in Kamala — peaceful, beautiful, and elevated in every sense. The perfect ending to a perfect trip.

Himmapana Villas · Hilltop infinity pool · Kamala, Phuket
After the energy of Patong, Kamala felt like coming up for air. Himmapana Villas perches high in the Phuket hills, with extraordinary views — the deep blue Andaman Sea stretching to the horizon, framed by lush jungle canopy. The infinity pool is a work of art, with a traditional Thai pavilion at its centre and waterfalls cascading through stone archways into deep cobalt-tiled water.
This is the kind of place where you sit still, breathe deeply, and feel genuinely grateful to be alive. The perfect ending to a journey through Thailand.
Kamala Beach is calmer and more local in feel than Patong — the real Phuket. And what better way to explore it than on horseback? Cantering along the shoreline with the sea breeze on your face and the hills behind you is one of those travel experiences that stays with you forever. The perfect final chapter of a truly magical trip.
Thailand doesn't just show you beauty — it makes you feel it. In the canals, the temples, the sunsets, the kindness of everyone you meet. This trip will stay with me forever. — Faye · February 2025
